HI! MY NAME IS FIREFLY PREVIOUS PAGE

Home

My name is Firefly, and I have a story to tell you. I found my way into a lady's yard back last June and never left. She couldn't take me in because she already had a houseful of kitties but she did make sure there was always some food for me in the yard. When I arrived I had a bad leg I dragged around and I was wearing a collar (no tag -- and now I know I wasn't microchipped, so I couldn't tell anyone where I came from). When it got really cold in early December, the nice lady decided she'd better find a way to get me inside, so she contacted Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County. The next day, I was warm and toasty in a foster home, having stopped by the veterinarian's to get tested for the bad stuff. I passed with flying colors, but the doctor thought the best thing for me would be to have my leg amputated. A few days later another doctor took and X-ray and agreed, so a wonderful orthopaedic surgeon, who also agreed with the diagnosis, did the surgery on 12/18/09, and what a wonderful job he did. I'm a tough little cookie, and the day after the surgery I was already walking a little.
As you can see, I'm a pretty flame point Siamese mix with slightly crossed lovely blue eyes if I may say so. I'm probably about a year old. I don't really appreciate other cats, but there are lots of them in my foster home, and I'm starting to get used to them. I'm in a cage for my safety, and I'm growling less and less at the other kitties who walk by to say hi. I like people, but am just (re)learning to allow myself to be held. Foster daddy is my teacher, and he holds me on his lap or chest, as you can see in one of the photos. I'm already quite mobile, but I'll be looking for a nice, safe and secure forever home before too long once my staples are removed and I get spayed (if I'm not already -- we need to check on that) If you would like to learn more about me, please email foster mommy at bygolley1@aol.com.
